So I have had a little bit of free time today, amidst my crazy study timetable, so I thought I would write a blog post on what I have been loving this september (although it is now october...whoops!).
I also realised that I did make a youtube video on my favourites for this month, however, I didn't write a blog post about it. Now I often find it is sometimes better to read about someones review on products rather than listen to them talk about it in videos or in real-life (and between you and me, I get sick of my own voice very quickly!)
Anyways, I have taken photos of my products to make this virtual review a bit more interesting!
1. Revlon Colourstay Concealer
Ok, so my first product is the Revlon Colourstay concealer (and for me it is in the shade 03 Light medium, however, I should have got the shade lighter). This concealer is amazing for those who are just starting off there makeup collection, or for those who are slightly embarrassed about the blemishes on their face (don't worry, you're not the only one!) and want to conceal them, as it has high coverage but is not to dense, so it isn't obvious if you're going for a natural look and it lets your skin breathe. The applicator kinda looks like a lipgloss applicator (in my opinion) and so it is very easy for to apply, and even easier to blend! Make sure that you get the concealer that best matches your skin tone though! I often find that getting two concealers is better, one that is slightly lighter than your skin tone for under your eyes, to make them look more awake, and a concealer that is basically your skin tone, just for any other blemishes you want to cover up (but don't feel the need to cover you're skin in makeup just to fit in, you're perfect the way you are!). You can buy this in any drugstore (I think) and it can range from many different prices, depending one where you are purchasing it from. However, if you are on a budget, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this product!
2. Muji Foundation (Natural)
This is a very unique foundation, and I believe you can only get it in south-east Asia, however, this is an amazing foundation and it is sooooo good at blending I can't express how much I love it! The dispenser is a little different to any foundations I have seen previously, as it hasn't got a pump, like normal foundations, but it has, what could be described as, more of a pen-like dispenser. So can apply it to your face in what ever way your wish! The bottle is also very small, so it is perfect to have in a travel bag or your normal handbag!
For people just starting to use makeup, or just starting there collection, I wouldn't recommend using foundation at all, however, if you are able to get your hands on this, then you will find it a lot easier to learn how use foundation properly. This is because it is very lightweight on the skin, it gives a more subtle look, and it is super easy to blend into the skin without looking to 'caked-on', where as high-end foundations are usually a little harder to blend and take more time and effort, as well as leaving a more dense look.
The best bit about this foundation though, is that it isn't expensive...at all! For such a good foundation it is priced amazingly!
The only thing that is a slight downhill to the foundation is that it doesn't last as long as I would like, especially if I have to wear it for the full day!
3. Sephora 8-hour mattifying pressed powder (21: Claire light)
Sephora's 8hr mattifying pressed powder is a great powder to use if you want a nice, matte finish to your makeup. It helps keep everything set, like your concealer and foundation, and has amazing coverage! It is fairly compact, and is great for travelling (especially if you're going to a hot country!). This product also gives a slight tan to the skin, no matter what shade you select! However, make sure you tap off your powder brush BEFORE applying it to your face! As even the slightest bit can make your face look too smothered in makeup - so you only need a dab of this powder on your brush before putting it on your skin! This product is also fairly pricey, as it is a high-end brand, so bare that in mind when looking for powders! If you are only just beginning to use makeup, I would suggest looking at other possible options in drugstores, however, if you are a continuer in makeup and are looking for something new, I would definitely recommend buying this powder (as it also lasts forever).
4. NYX felt eyeliner
My NYX felt eyeliner is in the colour 01 Extreme Black (so it is the first in that collection!) and my mum actually purchased it for me, so I'm not too sure how much it was, but I think she bought it in a drugstore so it wasn't too expensive. This is a really great eyeliner, as it literally is like a pen; it has a long applicator so that it is easier to control, and it glides very easily over the eyelid! It does take a bit of practice to get used to using it, but I would definitely recommend this if your looking for something that can quickly draw on beautiful cat flicks, or if you just want a thinker line than a usual eyeliner. The only problem with this eyeliner is that if you make a mistake, it takes quite a lot of effort to remove and it also takes quite a while to dry, so bare that in mind!
5. Burt's Bees Lip balm (Pink blossom)
You can't go wrong with a handy Burt's Bees lip balm!! This one is extra special as it is tinted! It is a very rosy colour and could probably be described as quite a nude tone, however it is amazing and works a treat when you have chapped lips! I love putting this on before any lipsticks, as it makes it a lot easier to apply the lipstick and it ensures that your lips stay moisturised no matter what! This lip balm is great to keep in your handbag as it is small and handy! As well as it being pretty much amazing, it's not that expensive either! But I bought mine in sephora, not in a drugstore, so I'm not sure where else you can purchase it!
6. Revlon Colourburst Matte balme
This product is from Revlon and it is the Colourburst matte balm in the shade 254 Audacious. This shade is quite orangey-red and I think you have to be quite confident to actually wear it, but I love this product, as it applies amazingly, it doesn't leave your lips feeling dry and there is such a good variety of colours to choose from! An extra bonus is that it is infused with a triple butter complex of shea, mango and coconut butter!
Now, I'm not too sure how much this was, as my close friend Simren gave it to me, However Revlon is quite a high-end brand, so I wouldn't expect it to be that cheap. However, you can purchase it in drugstores!
7. Sunsilk Nourishing smooth & silk SPRAY
The sunksilk Nourishing smooth & silk spray is perfect for those days when your hair is halfway between clean and greasy and you know that if you wash your hair it would be too silky to do anything with, but if you leave it it'll just become to greasy to function. With the spray, all you do is spritz some onto your hair, style and go! It actually leaves you hair feeling healthy, shiny and smooth! (and tbh, who doesn't want that!?). I believe you can only get this in South-east Asia, but I may be completely wrong!! And the pricing is mid-way between cheap and expensive. The only thing that annoys me is that it runs out to quickly!! However, that's probably because I just spray it like there is no tomorrow!
8. Nivea double effect roll-on (Violent senses)
There isn't really very much to say on this product except from it's amazing and doesn't hurt/sting the underarms and it is really convenient to carry around wherever you want! In my opinion I think that roll-on deodorants are better as they don't spray around chemicals and the don't affect anyone else except you!
This product also lasts forever!! I don't believe this deodorant is too expensive, however it does depend on where you live
9. Victoria Secret perfume (Coconut Passion)
Finally, my favourite product of all! The Victoria Secret Coconut Passion (vanilla & coconut) perfume spray! This sweet, aromatic fragrance is to die for and is definitely one to add to your christmas/birthday list!! I'm going to be honest and say that this is not cheap, so you better start saving those pennies!
Now, I know for some people this scent is a little bit too sweet (as many have described, including myself, as smelling like chocolate!) and it isn't small so you can't really take this on your travels, however it is divine and I definitely recommend that you try it! Almost everyone that I recommend it to purchase it!!
Another note to put out there of why I love this so much is because I just think the packaging is sooooo pretty! I love the floral print on the back of the perfume!
Ok, so that is my September favourites of 2015 complete! This blog post is a little bit more detailed and informative than my youtube video (if you haven't seen that click here!) so that you get a better understanding of why I love all of these products this month!
I hope you found this post interesting! Love you all lots!
I'll write again soon!
Giselle
XOXOXO
